How to Delete Your Account

We're sorry to see you go. Below you will find detailed instructions on how to permanently remove your account and data from Resumesio.

Permanent Action

Account deletion is immediate and irreversible once processed. You will lose access to:

  • All created resumes and cover letters
  • Saved profile information and employment history
  • Active subscriptions (canceled immediately)
  • Download history and analytics

Before You Delete

We highly recommend downloading your data before requesting deletion. Once your account is deleted, we cannot recover any files.

  • Download PDF Resumes: Go to your dashboard and download the final PDF versions of your resumes.
  • Save Source Data: Copy any important text from your profile that you might need for future applications.
  • Check Subscriptions: Ensure you have no pending payments or disputes.

Step-by-Step Deletion Process

For security verify ownership, we currently handle deletions via a manual support request. This ensures no malicious actor can delete your account without verification.

Compose Email

Open your email client and draft a new message to resumsio@gmail.com.

Use Component Subject

Set the subject line to: "REQUEST TO DELETE ACCOUNT" to auto-prioritize your ticket.

Verify Identity

You must send the email from the address associated with your Resumesio account. If you no longer have access to that email, please include:

  • Your full name as registered
  • The old email address
  • Last accurate date of login (approximate)

Subscription Data

If you have an active paid subscription, deleting your account will automatically cancel future recurring billing. However, we recommend canceling your subscription from the Billing Settings page first for immediate confirmation from our payment provider (Stripe/PayPal).

Third-Party Data

Deleting your account removes data from our primary databases. Identifying information shared with third-party service providers (e.g., for analytics or payment processing) will be handled in accordance with their respective privacy policies and our data processing agreements.

Data Retention Policy

Upon successful deletion verification:

  • 0-24 Hours: Request sits in queue for manual verification.
  • 24-48 Hours: Account is deactivated; public links (if any) become 404 Not Found.
  • 30 Days: Hard deletion from backup archives occurs. After this point, data is technically impossible to recover.

Exceptions: We may retain strictly necessary financial transaction records for tax compliance (usually 5-7 years) as mandated by law. This data will not be used for any other purpose.

If you just need a break, you can unsubscribe from our emails instead of deleting your account completely.
